  1. hello Carolyn, Jerry, Pam, Jill and Kim -

Carolyn, my mom told me about your fall - I am so sorry to hear about your injury but pleased with the positive news you are receiving.

I was thinking about the strength all of you need during this tough time. Although I don't have a particular scripture to offer, there is a quote that I have turned to many times when I have needed courage: "The will of God will never lead you where the grace of God cannot keep you." This quote is on a plaque that used to hang in my mom's bedroom in Evergreen. Now it's right next to my bed and it was the inspiration for our daughter's middle name - Grace.

I will continue to pray each of you finds the strength you need. And, Pam - I wish the circumstances were different for me being in touch after so long. . . I hope you and your family are doing okay.

  4. Hi Jerry and Carolyn,

Zephaniah 3:17—The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.

Karen and I are praying for you both, and hopeful and excited about what God is going to do in your lives to demonstrate His great power and love.

What an awesome God we serve!

  5. Jerry, Wendy and I have been following the reports though Pam and Dave. Carolyn's condition and progress has been occupying our thoughts and prayers ever since we first heard. We were encouraged, as I am sure you are, by the fact that Carolyn was somewhat able to move her legs. We will continue to keep up to date with Pam and Dave and send our prayers and love to Carolyn. 7. Sounds like progress is being made re. more strength and pizza. We are praying daily for all of you. I've attached an article I wrote for our church magazine about my hospital adventure and how God spoke to me. Carolyn may find some comfort in it. Most of your Minnesota friends don't know how to respond on the blogspot. Have you thought about using CaringBridge.com. It's very easy to use.

    God bless,

  14. Jerry and Carolyn,

Sure was a shocking email from you. Received it this morning and want you to know that Carolyn was the focal point of our prayer time this morning. Words certainly aren’t adequate in times like this, but rest assured (and tell her), she will definitely be in our daily prayers.

Leaving this morning for 3 speaking engagements in Des Moines, returning this weekend. Will be in touch then.

We know the Lord has Carolyn in His hands and we must never lose faith. Never stop looking up.

  15. Jerry,

We are so sorry to hear this.

I'm sure you have had dozens of calls so we will not add to the backlog but will be checking the blog on a daily basis.

Martine and I consider you both to be part of our extended family and our thoughts and best wishes are with you both. We are sure that Carolyn will make the best possible recovery and look forward to speaking to you both once she is home.

    All the very best

  18. Hi Jerry,

Read Carol Benson's email in disbelief. After the initial email, it was certainly good news that there is movement in the arms and a leg. Please give Carolyn, and yourself, a BIG and gentle hug from us.

Love and prayers from out here, Carol and Jeff

  19. Jerry,

Thanks for the email about Carolyn. So sad; my prayers are with her and your family. I will follow her progress, as you suggest, on her blog. I know spinal and spinal cord injuries take a long time to settle down and heal, but recovery can happen as the rehabilitation process proceeds. Let’s hope and pray this is what happens in her case.

One add for your email list, my email address is now... You can correct and us it in further emails.

    Thanks,

    Kirby

  21. Jerry,

I can't tell you how shocked and saddened I was to hear this news about Carolyn. But I know that Carolyn's an overcomer and that God's healing power will bring her through this trial with complete physical restoration. Let her know that she can count on me to join the team of other prayer warriors that are interceeding for her. Also, let me know when she is ready to receive visitors.

    Regards,

    Chuck Stout

  22. Pam, Kim and Dave,

Thank you for your email and for giving us an update on Carolyn's condition. We were so sorry to hear about her accident. We cannot imagine what all of you are going through right now, but wanted to let you know that we are thinking about your mom, and dad, and the rest of your family. Please let us know if there is anything at all that we can do to help out during this time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to each of you, and we wish Carolyn a speedy recovery.

  24. Hi Jerry,

Sounds as though Craig is hesitating concerning age differences. It is true that most spinal cord injured patients are young - the more adventurous who are injured in sports such as skiing, diving, motorcycling, etc. Craig is excellent and it would be nice if Carolyn is there; however do not be discouraged if you need to find another facility. Spalding in Denver also specializes in spinal cord and has the complete team of experts for treatment of physical rehab and reteaching skills for the most independence possible.

Take care of yourself and get sleep, Carol

  25. Jerry,

Please forward this to Carolyn - my thoughts and prayers are with you both.

    Dearest Carolyn,

When I heard of your injury the Lord brought this to mind:

Do you not know? Have you not heard?

The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary, and increases the power of the weak.

Even youth grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall.

But those who HOPE in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.

So dear one, my prayer for you is that the Creator of the universe will create in you a new way to walk and run! That you not grow weary, but live in HOPE of the One who gives you your strength. Your are in my constant prayers.

    Much love,

    Juli Hobin

  26. Hi Carolyn,

You have been and are so very much in our hearts and prayers this week after your horrendous fall. We are so thankful to be able to keep up on your progress on the blog site and are very grateful to your sweet family for making it possible.

There are so many Scriptures that have been a part of my prayers for you - and I'll share them as I continue to write in the days to come. Front and center today is Jeremiah 29:11 - a familiar and precious promise from our Lord.
"For I know the plans I have for you,"declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Amen and Amen!!!!

As I think about our many conversations on the phone over the years, I am so reminded of the very strong faith you have and pray you are standing firm in your faith as you keep your focus on Jesus.

Remember - You are loved with an everlasting love and underneath are His everlasting arms.
    Special blessings and my love.

I tried to blog, but didn't succeed so I'll try the e.mail route.....You all are on our minds & in our thoughts & prayers back here in Minnesota.....Just keep on keeping on & don't try to figure out why bad things happen to good people......Maybe Carolyn would enjoy looking at pictures on a photo computer screen.....or bring in picture albums & discuss the happy events that they will convey.....also good for conversational discussions!! I'll be checking the blog daily & we're all cheering for all of you!! Hugs to all of you from all of us!

  28. Thx for this link. We have not been able to access Comments. We are praying continually for Carolyn and the whole family. I am so encouraged by Carolyn’s progress and I feel sure she will go to Craig next. Do not put too much weight in what docs say. My daughter was told she had cancer and would not ever see 22 yrs old. She is now 46 and has never had a recurrence. God is the Master Physician and he is good – all the time!! Judee & Bob

  29. Jerry,

Ed shared your email with me. I wanted to write and say how hard this struck me, and that I am thinking of the two of you.

Time marches on and so do advances in medicine…so I’m hopeful she amazes everyone with what all she shows us she can do after all.

Please give her my best. Importantly, take care of yourself as well…

  33. Carolyn, my sister in the Lord. I was so stunned to hear about your fall but I am so encouraged about your progress. You are a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife and very very special friend...but above all, God has given you amazing strength and amazing faith. Many, many times you have lifted me up in your prayers and at the same time soothed my fear and doubt. I'm honored to do the same for you and like many of your other friends I am asking the Holy Spirit to pray when the words won't seem to come.

Jehovah Rapha, our healer, is with you and with your family. Please know that I am available for whatever you and your family might need.

    Your Sister, Suzann Bron

I know that Peter & Glenda are thinking of you and wishing there was a way they could be there with you. If there is anything you need please don't hesitate to let us know - we may be far away but we will help in any way we can.

I also have tried the blog site without success

We were so dissapointed and saddened by the news. It makes us feel so
inadequate and helpless that we can't just go out and fix things.
Perhaps Carolyn's recovery is a little like the financial recovery--
It will be painful and take some time but we are hopeful and confident
    about the eventual outcome.

    Stay positive and God bless
