Thursday, February 19, 9:30 AM

Today Carolyn woke up a after a full night's sleep. This is the first night she slept through the night which is a blessing. She is now off all of her IV's and has been given a clean bill of health to move onto rehabilitation. Today our prayer requests are that she is accepted into the Craig Rehabilitation Center, that she does not catch pneumonia and for respiratory strength.

  1. We are all praying here in Minnesota for Carolyn's strength. Just the thought of her having clearance to move to rehab sounds very hopeful. If should could get to Craig she could begin her marathon. We will ask God to put a "rush" on her rehab acceptance at Craig. Until then, please give her our love.

  2. Caroline...I am going to try again...make it shorter this time...suffice it to say that nancy had a fall when we were in New Zealand 18 years ago, fell against the corner of an opposite wall, and was completely paralized withdamage between C3 and C5. After much churning around in socialized New Zealand, and being tottally immobilized, she gradually began to recover feeling over a two week period to the point we could get her home with RN support via United. After much prayer and rehab, she recovered perfectly within 6 weeks, still experiences a "running" sensation in her muscles at times, but it was a miracle. Moral of the story...so too you...we are storming heaven, the fact that you are having movement and feeling is SO positive...We Love You...Nancy and Jim

  4. Dear Carolyn, Jerry and family members (I wish I knew each of your names, I only know Kim's),

Carolyn you are huge gift in my life as I know you are in others' lives. You give me hope and encouragement, both treasures in these times of hopelessness and discouragement. And most importantly I feel God's love through you.

The verses that are running through my mind and I can't get out of my mind are from Psalm 23 where God promises that "...I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul..."

From the outpourings of love on this blog I see you are not in want of many people who love you.

I will on other days post more of God's promises that you might find encouragement from the well spring of all LOVE... It would be nice for you to be able to fill your "pitcher of love" that you pour on all of us!

Kim and Jerry thank you so much for calling me in the midst of everything. I am very grateful to you!

I am praying for the Craig Rehab Center.

    With Great Love,
    Ileana

  7. Hi Carolyn,

We met last night for another evening of knitting, talking, eating, goofing off, etc. We so missed having you with us in person, but you were at the center of our conversation and of our extended time of prayer! If we could have joined you at the hospital last night, we would have been there, but we will come be with you when you are ready, and when we get the 'go ahead' for visitors. Meanwhile, most of us will send notes to you via Jerry and your daughters since sending emails via the blog spot may be beyond our collective and individual computer skills!

I/we have sent emails to our prayer buddies all over the nation and even abroad, asking them to pray for you. Many have responded, are also reading the blogs and prayer requests have passed the prayer requests on to their prayer groups. Along with all of us,many many people are lifting you up and praying for your miraculous and full recovery.

A scripture that keeps coming to me as I pray for you is:

Jeremiah 32:27 "Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?"

    Assuredly not!

My love and prayers are with you constantly, day and night!

    Mary

  8. Hey oh, Carolyn & all you precious Van Eeckhouts, it's such a privilege to be before God on your behalf. So, today I was led to Psalm 33. The latter part is especially yummy: "We wait in hope for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May Your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in You." The verses just above these are pretty big too as they encourage us to revere Him and they speak of a promise to deliver us in times of famine. If one uses a broad translation for "famine", it can be a 'shortage' of most anything, I am thinking. Interesting that the next verses speak of "waiting". I am waiting w/ great expectation for His marvels in your lives!! Much love, Nancy S.
